- 把字句（处置） 把 sentence: move the object before the verb to stress how it's dealt with
- 被字句（被动） 被 sentence: passive — the subject is acted upon
- 「一…就…」（一…马上就…） 一…就…: as soon as A, then B (right away)
- 「越来越…」（渐变） 越来越…: more and more … (increasing over time)
- 可能补语（V得/不+结果） Verb + 得/不 + result: expresses whether an action can achieve a result (ability/possibility)
- 程度补语「…极了/…死了」 Adjective + 极了/死了: expresses an extreme degree ('extremely...')
- 时量补语（动作持续多久） Verb + 了 + duration: states how long an action lasts
- 动量补语（动作次数） Verb + number + action-measure word: counts how many times an action occurs
- 复合趋向补语（V+来/去 组合） Verb + directional (上/下/进/出/回/过) + 来/去: shows the direction of movement relative to the speaker
- 「A 比 B 更/还…」（比较加深） A 比 B 更/还 + adjective: A is even more [adj] than B
- 「比…得多/多了」（差异程度） A 比 B + adjective + 得多/多了: A is much more [adj] than B (big difference)
- 「越 A 越 B」（随…而…） 越 A 越 B: the more A, the more B (B increases as A does)
- 虽然…但是… although… but…: concede a fact, then state the opposite result
- 不但…而且… not only… but also…: add a further, stronger point
- 如果…就… if… then…: state a condition and its result
- 只要…就… as long as… then…: one sufficient condition guarantees the result
- 不是…而是… not… but (rather)…: correct A and assert B instead
- 除了…以外… besides / except…: exclude or include beyond X
- 连…都/也… even…: highlight an extreme case to imply the rest
- …的话 …if / in the case of…: sentence-final 的话 marks a supposition
- 一边…一边… 一边…一边…: doing two actions at the same time
- 一…也/都+不/没… 一…也/都+不/没…: 'not … even one', total negation
- 介词「对」 对: introduces the person or thing an action or attitude is directed toward
- 「为了」 为了: in order to / for the sake of (states the purpose)
- 介词「向」 向: toward (a direction) / to (a person) — direction or target of an action
- 介词「关于」 关于: about / concerning / regarding (a topic)
- 介词「替」 替: for / on behalf of (do something in place of, or for the benefit of, someone)

- 疑问代词表任指（谁都/什么都） any/every: question words + 都/也 for universal reference
- 存现句 An existential sentence: place + verb (with 着/有/了) + something, to say something exists, appears, or disappears there.
- 兼语句「请」 请 + person + verb: ask or invite someone to do something; the person is both object of 请 and subject of the next verb.
- 「的」字结构（名词化） Adjective/verb phrase + 的 forms a noun-like phrase that stands in for a noun (the red one, the one I bought).
- 「…以前/以后」 time point/action + 以前 (before) or 以后 (after) locates an event in time.
- 「从来+不/没」 从来 + 不 (never, habitually) or 从来 + 没 (never up to now) expresses 'never'.
- 「有的…有的…」 有的…有的… lists different parts of the same group ('some... others...').
- 要是…就… if… then… (colloquial)
- 而且 / 并且 moreover; and also; furthermore (adds a further point)
- 不过 but; however (a mild 'but', softer than 但是)
- 却 yet; but; however (adverb of contrast, before the verb)
- 或者 or (in statements, expressing choice — not in questions)
- V起来 extended uses of 起来: begin and continue an action, or introduce an evaluation/aspect
- V下去 keep doing an already-started action; continue on
- V出来 something goes from hidden to visible; recognize or figure out
- V成 / V作 result complement showing something turns into / is treated as a result
- V给 result complement: the action delivers something to a recipient
- 也许/可能 maybe; perhaps; possibly
- 差不多 almost; about the same; nearly
- 终于 finally; at last (after a process)
- 突然/忽然 suddenly; all of a sudden
- 总是 always; all the time
- 经常 often; frequently
- 特别 / 尤其 especially; particularly

- …左右 approximately; around (a number)
- 数词+多 more than; and a bit (over a round number)
- 好/难 + 动词 好+V means "easy/pleasant to do"; 难+V means "hard to do".
- 像…一样 "like... / the same as..." — makes a comparison or simile.
- 比如（说）/ 例如 for example; such as — introduces one or more examples of what was just mentioned
- 语气助词「啊」 Sentence-final 啊: softens tone, adds warmth, exclamation or urging
- 认为 认为: consider / hold the view that (a reasoned opinion)
- 感到 感到: feel (an emotion or state), come to feel
- 记得 记得: remember, still have in memory
